Moments of Glory...

Ronaldo (The fat one) once declared, football is better than sex. And goal-scoring, is like an orgasm.

And last week, the abovementioned theory has proven to be true. As an out and out striker, i did manage a handful of goals, but to be honest, better than orgasm? I still disagree with the statement, but on the 30th of April 2011, everything changed.

For the second year running, i am in the team of Sime Darby Industrial Football team for the inter division tournament. It is safe to say that football is like a religion in our company, as every year during the finals, it never fails to attract more spectators compares to any other games.

This year, in fact, the finals was still the same, Industrial vs plantation. The chairman Tun Musa Hitam and board of Sime darby management attended the finale too. Plantations division are boosting a team of full timer footballer, while industrial, all of us are part timers footballers. Desire to repeat last year victory, needless to say, was a huge one, as plantations is the team with most budget in their pocket, with each of their players getting two new Adidas boots prior to the tournament.

All we got is the a pair of jogging shoe, jacket, pants and stuff like t-shirts.

I came on from the substitute bench with 20 minutes to go, with our team leading 3-0. Victory seems like inevitable. But within 10 minutes, plantations teams has scored two more goals to make it 3-2. Looks like a nightmare start to me.

But the last thing i wanted is to be the reason of the team losing. I started to run like Torres.

...and whizz past the opponents like Messi.

During the 3-2 scoreline, the match intensified with plantations just need one more goal to equalize. Instead of concentrating on the defending duty as told (I was told to get into midfield, although i am more of a natural born striker), i went further up the field lining up and prepare for a free kick.

People say, great player does not hide during the storm. The ball came flying in..

A header...and at that moment, everything turn into slow motion to me.

And GOALLLLL!!!!

Honestly, this is the goal i am waiting for, dreaming of, all this while leading up to the finals.

A goal that officially kill off the game.

Yes, 4-2. Any hope for plantations comeback is impossible now.

This is exactly how Fernando Torres celebrate after his lengthy goal draught for Chelsea.

This is the moment.

This is exactly what i called, the goal of the lifetime. One of the most important goal i have scored in my list in my entire life of football. I would never forget the roar, the celebrations, the excitement, the friendship bond that i have had with my teammates for the past 3 months of trainings, friendlies, and games.

Although i am still the only chinese in the team like last year, it doesn;t matter at all!The teammates is like a family to me. We eat, shop, drink and sleep together. We go out as one team, with only one vision, to defend the title. the coach always reminded us that we carries the spirit of 1malaysia, with all three races under one team!

My colleague who attended to watch the games has told me that the environment was beyond imagination that night when the goal went in. Everyone i met in the office, be it friends of strangers, still giving me thumbsup, handshake, and talking about that goal as if it is the winning goal for AFF Suzuki cup, haha.

So, We are champion, again!

I can't wait for the tournament next year to start. The difference is, i don't really mind to come out from the dugout as substitute again next time, if i could score that goal that all over again.

That goal? Yeah, it is better than sex.;p
